2025 Inductees – Team

1958-1959 “B” Boys Soccer

In these early years of interscholastic sport, a Bridgetown team had to advance through three separate levels of competition to earn a spot in the Headmasters Championships, which were emblematic of a provincial championship.
Bridgetown began its 1958 soccer season playing Annapolis and Digby in pursuit of the Congress Championship. Against Digby, BRHS won both games by a score of 1-0. Facing Annapolis, they won by scores of 4-0 and 2-0.
As Congress Champions, Bridgetown advanced to play a home and home series against KCA to declare an Annapolis Valley champion. Bridgetown was victorious in both games, winning by scores of 2-1 and 3-1.
To declare a Western Nova Scotia Champion, Bridgetown would meet the South Shore champion, Lunenburg, in yet one more home and home set of games.
As with KCA, BRHS would win both games against Lunenburg by scores of 2-1 and 3-1.
This advanced them to a one-game winner-take-all format against the Cape Breton Champions from New Waterford.The game was played on a neutral pitch in Brookfield, with Bridgetown claiming the provincial crown with a decisive 4-1 victory.

Fullbacks – Ron Buckley, David Urquhart, Mike Schaffner.
Halfbacks – Bob Hanum, Jim Gillis, Jackie Ferguson, Oscar Miller and Wayne Campbell.
Forwards – Bob Durling, Billy Jackson, Roy Mansfield, Walter Jackson, David Pick, Tommy LeBrun, Howie Jackson.
Coach – Jack Walker
Manager – Bob Phinney
The record for the year was an impressive 9 victories, no losses or ties, 22 goals for, 5 against.
